The First Session:
Seeking couples counseling is a big step that takes courage. It is very normal to feel anxious since it is a private and intimate matter. The sooner the problems are addressed, the easier it will be to work them out.
As the therapist, I will ask what the major concerns are and identify the patterns that are causing distress. At the end I will provide a map on how I could assist in making your relationship better. I will also answer any questions you have over the counseling process.
Feel free to call me to set up a phone consultation.
What is Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)? (Couples Counseling)
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is a short-term, structured therapy. Research studies find that 70-75% of couples move from distress to recovery and 90% show significant improvement. It is a present-focused, non-blaming, humanistic, and client-centered model. It is currently the most researched and validated therapy in the last 25 years. EFT works with many different types of problems and populations.
Couples who complete the therapy process can expect an increase in happiness, enhanced sense of safety and security, resolve conflicts more quickly, fully understand and support each other.
